Job Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organization’s network infrastructure. This role ensures network performance, security, and reliability, and works closely with the IT team and vendors to optimize connectivity, scalability, and security across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki solutions, including firewalls, switches, and access points, and possess strong knowledge of network security practices.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Deployment : Design and deploy network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, to meet organizational requirements.
  • Network Hardware Management : Configure and manage network hardware such as Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, routers, and access points.
  • Network Upgrades & Expansions : Plan, implement, and optimize network upgrades, expansions, and integrations to ensure scalability and performance.
  • Network Monitoring : Utilize network monitoring tools to track network performance, capacity, and health.
  • Issue Resolution : Identify and resolve network issues to minimize downtime, including diagnosing complex problems related to network hardware and software.
  • Network Security : Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security protocols.
  • Collaboration with Cybersecurity Team : Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to prevent, detect, and mitigate network-related security threats.
  • Security Standards Compliance : Ensure that network infrastructure complies with relevant security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Incident Response : Respond to and resolve escalated network-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Technical Support : Provide network-related technical support to IT teams and end-users, troubleshooting issues and providing solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting : Document network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps; generate regular reports on network performance, security, and capacity planning.
  • Vendor Liaison : Work with vendors and service providers to procure network hardware, software, and support services.
  • Ongoing Maintenance : Perform regular maintenance tasks including firmware updates, security patches, and device configuration changes.
  • Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer.

Required Skills/ Abilities

  • Networking Protocols : Expertise in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and VLANs.
  • Cisco Meraki Solutions : Hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, access points, and other network devices.
  • Network Security : Strong understanding of network security practices and tools, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other network security solutions.
  • Network Monitoring Tools : Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics : Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues, both hardware and software related.
  • Cloud Networking : Familiarity with cloud networking platforms such as AWS, Azure and the integration of on-premise networks with cloud environments.
  • SD-WAN : Understanding of SD-WAN technologies and their deployment in enterprise environments.
  • Automation : Knowledge of network automation tools or scripting to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
  • Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation, collaboration, and technical support.
  • Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certifications :
    • Required : Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification.
    • Preferred :
      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
      • Cisco Meraki Certified Network Associate (CMNA)
      • Cisco Certified Network Security (CCNSP)
  • Network Security : Experience with network security tools such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and implementing network security best practices.
  • Cloud & Virtualization : Experience with cloud networking and virtualized network environments is desirable.
  • SD-WAN & Network Automation : Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies and automation tools for network configuration and management.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on managing enterprise-level networks.
  • Hands-on experience working with Cisco Meraki solutions, including firewalls, switches, and access points.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex network issues and performing network maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

Meneses Law believes in Work Life Balance. Operation hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. plus 2 Saturdays a month for certain positions.

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Education/ Experience:
    • A bachelor's degree, knowledge of MS Office and MacOS.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Ability of reading comprehension, writing, speaking to others to convey information effectively, active listening and interpreting instructional documents.
  • Reasoning Skills:
    • Must be able to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective. Identify relevant concerns or factors, patterns, tendencies, and relationships. Formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternative and their implications.
  • Physical Demands:
    • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
    • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods.
    • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.
  • Other skills:
    • Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Work Hours:
