Purpose of the Position:

  • Creates reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and aid business decision-making. Uses querying languages like SQL, scripting languages like R or Python, and other tools like Power BI or Excel to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions.
  • Combines these reports with subject-matter expertise to deliver coherent, insightful takeaways and advice. Collaborates with project stakeholders to better understand valuable objectives and KPIs and to design relevant reports and dashboards. Incumbent in this role performs work that is generally independent and collaborative in nature, while contributing to moderately complex aspects of a project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop compelling and interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI's rich set of visualizations (charts, graphs, maps, etc.).
  • Leverage Power BI features like drill-down capabilities, slicers, and filters to enable users to explore data interactively. Implement conditional formatting to highlight key trends and insights within the visuals.
  • Write efficient SQL queries to extract and transform data from Redshift, build views, filter, and aggregate data as needed for analysis.
  • Possess business acumen to understand core business metrics and KPIs relevant to different user groups within the organization.
  • Analyze data trends and patterns to identify key insights and translate them into clear and
  • concise reports for stakeholders and build insights into actionable reports.
  • Create confluence user guides and training materials to help business users understand and leverage the created Power BI reports effectively.
  • Present data insights and findings in a clear and concise manner, tailoring communication to all different business audiences
  • Continuously learn about new features and functionalities in Power BI and Redshift to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Adhere to data governance policies and procedures for data access, security, and compliance.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Power BI reports, ensuring efficient data loading and visualization rendering.
  • This role requires a combination of technical skills in Power BI, SQL querying, and data warehousing concepts, along with strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science from an accredited university with major in finance, statistics, or a similar quantitative field. PLUS 4 or more years of work experience conducting analysis & reporting, credit risk analysis, or risk management preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Advanced proficiency with a BI tool (preferably Power BI).
  • Excel level experience with SQL and other data manipulation languages in the handling of
  • large datasets. Languages preferred include R, and Python.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and visualization best practices.
