Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Vice President, Market Access and Patient Services to build, lead and execute the market access and patient services strategy at IDEAYA. This leader will bring their extensive U.S. oncology experience to our initial product launch and will be responsible for developing U.S. and global market access and patient services strategies, with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization of our lead program darovasertib in Uveal Melanoma [UM]. The Vice President, Market Access and Patient Services is accountable for the company’s overall market access strategy, inclusive of product access launch plans, pricing, reimbursement, and contracting, as well as the design and implementation of patient services. The role is also responsible for building and managing the specialty distribution and trade operations functions. The preferred candidate will be an expert in U.S. market access dynamics and reimbursement complexities while having significant experience with health technology assessments, health economics, and a range of global markets. The role will also play a critical role in shaping and building a fit for purpose market access and patient services organization to input into clinical pipeline decisions and support future launches.

This is one of the first commercial hires for the company, and as a member of the commercial leadership team, this role will be integral in IDEAYA’s transition to a commercial stage biotechnology company.

This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and the role is based in IDEAYA’s South San Francisco, California office, with an expectation to be in office 4 days a week.

What you'll do:

  • Build the access strategy, account management, pricing & reimbursement, and patient services teams that will be needed to ensure a successful launch of darovasertib for treatment of metastatic uveal melanoma
  • Design and drive IDEAYA’s development of key market access capabilities within the US (and globally as needed) including strategic account management, patient access programs, trade and distribution, pricing & contracting, and health economics
  • Develop the market access strategy and tactics to ensure successful global product launches and provide Market Access input to guide pipeline strategies and ensure access to our approved medicines
  • Develop US and global pricing and reimbursement recommendations consistent with product value and ensure organizational alignment as it relates to contracting, rebating, price adjustments, Best Price, HTAs, and other related elements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Medical Affairs, Development, Regulatory, Legal and Finance) for outstanding and compliant execution of the strategy
  • Work collaboratively to recommend and execute a US managed care strategy for payer and key channels, including commercial insurers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN), State Medicaid, Medicare, and Federal VA/DoD channels. Includes development of both pre- and post-approval engagement strategies
  • Oversee the design and execution of IDEAYA’s patient services hub that seamlessly supports access to our approved medicines
  • Provide Market Access perspectives in support of business development initiatives
  • Work in close collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, R&D, Finance & Manufacturing to ensure the achievement of business objectives. Mentor and develop individuals on the Market Access and Patient Services team
  • Actively contribute to the annual brand planning, forecasting, and budgeting process
  • Travel - Position requires up to 30% travel




Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA and/or relevant post graduate qualifications preferred
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of biopharmaceutical market access experience, including building and leading payer & key account teams, reimbursement, pricing & contracting, and hub services. Significant oncology experience required.
  • Broad commercial experience including successful oncology product launches in the US as well as global/ex-US Market Access experience
  • Track record successfully negotiating access for prescription products in competitive therapeutic areas in the U.S.. Experience developing product value propositions, HTA dossiers, and leveraging HEOR/RWE required
  • Strong understanding of healthcare policy, payer dynamics, healthcare system, and regulatory landscape across US and ex-US markets
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence in rapidly changing environment
  • Outstanding track record of people management/development, building and leading high-performing teams to include field, payer reimbursement, and patient services teams
  • Possess strong executive presence, excellent communication and negotiation skills

The expected salary range for this role that is based in our South San Francisco, California office is $302,175 - $373,275.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the office location where this open position is located, the final candidates’ experience within their profession, experience in the disease areas we are striving to make an impact in as a company, length of time within the industry, educational background, and performance during the interview process.
