Job Description

Thinking Minds Inc.'s client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of specialized heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in both new product development and the maintenance of existing product lines. This position requires strong technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform complex mechanical engineering tasks, ensuring high technical quality and innovative design.
• Generate new product concepts based on market research, customer feedback, and industry trends.
• Conduct job site visits to gather Voice of the Customer (VOC) insights.
• Develop 3D models, perform engineering calculations, and utilize FEA and simulation software to verify design integrity.
• Lead prototype assembly and testing to validate designs before production.
• Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to integrate customer needs into product design.
• Create and manage detailed project plans, tracking tasks, costs, and timelines.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Assist production teams with pilot builds and successful transition to full-scale manufacturing.
• Provide sustaining support for existing products, ensuring continuous improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in product development within heavy manufacturing.
• Strong expertise in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing.
• Proficiency in FEA, simulation tools, and engineering calculations.
• Experience using DFSS tools to enhance product quality and functionality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time within budget.
