About the Role:


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Engineering/CTO to lead and scale our engineering team. This is a critical leadership role that will be responsible for defining and executing our technology strategy, building and maintaining our platform, and fostering a high-performing engineering culture. You will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable both setting strategic direction and diving into technical details.


Responsibilities:



  • Technology Strategy & Vision: Develop and implement the overall technology vision and roadmap, aligning with the company's business goals. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends and make recommendations for adoption.

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Manage performance reviews, career development, and hiring.

  • Platform Development & Maintenance: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our core platform and applications. Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and performance. Make informed build vs. buy decisions.

  • Software Development Lifecycle: Establish and enforce best practices for software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, testing, and deployment.

  • Security & Compliance: Prioritize security and compliance, ensuring that our systems and data are protected. Implement appropriate security measures and comply with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

  • Budget Management: Manage the engineering budget effectively, optimizing resource allocation and maximizing ROI.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., product, marketing, operations) to ensure alignment and effective execution. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners.

  • Staying Current: Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in the healthtech industry.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams.

  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).

  • Deep technical expertise in relevant technologies (e.g.(AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript), databases (SQL, NoSQL), etc.).

  • Experience with healthcare regulations and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Passion for improving healthcare through technology.
