POSITION DESCRIPTION:

PennDOT seeks a skilled Workstation Specialist to support PC hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, and configuration across multiple offices, field sites, and remote locations within District 9, including Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Somerset, and Huntingdon counties. The role involves providing Tier 2 IT support and working with the PennDOT IT team to ensure system functionality and user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot PC hardware, peripherals, and software in network and standalone environments.
  • Provide direct support for workstation-related issues and troubleshoot problems via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Perform hardware upgrades and resolve software issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Support Cisco VPN, SCCM, and mobile iOS devices, including troubleshooting and issuing devices.
  • Install and maintain premise cabling (Cat5e/6), printers, and multifunction devices.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory and coordinate deliveries/pickups.
  • Assist with telecommunication equipment, including VoIP and web conferencing tools.
  • Travel as needed for training and supporting other districts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver s license and ability to travel to various locations.
  • 2+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting PC hardware/software in an enterprise LAN/WAN environment.
  • Experience with Remedy ticketing systems, premise cabling, and supporting laptops/docking stations.
  • Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to document technical processes and work independently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Cisco VPN router support, Active Directory, and Microsoft SCCM.
  • Familiarity with Hyena System Management Software and process documentation.
  • Experience in project management and team leadership.

Additional Information:

  • Local candidates in the Hollidaysburg, PA area is preferred.
  • Occasional travel to other districts or overnight travel for training may be required.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in construction sites and around large fleet equipment.
