Network & Systems Administrator


Department: Information Technology


Reports To: Technology Manager


Location: Gilbert, AZ (onsite 5 days per week)


Salary: $90k - $110k


We are seeking a motivated Network & Systems Administrator to join our growing team in Gilbert, AZ. This role involves analytical, technical, and administrative responsibilities in planning, designing, installing, and supporting our expanding network. Additionally, you will serve as a backup to our system administrator.


Key Responsibilities:


Network Administration (70%)



  • Design, implement, and maintain traditional and software-defined networking (SDN) infrastructure, including virtual networks and cloud-based services.

  • Configure and manage software-defined firewalls, ensuring robust security policies and access controls.

  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues across physical and virtual environments.

  • Implement comprehensive network security measures, including zero-trust architectures and micro-segmentation.

  • Orchestrate and automate network operations using modern SDN tools and frameworks.

  • Perform regular maintenance activities, including software updates, security patches, and system backups.

  • Analyze network traffic patterns, identify security vulnerabilities, and implement solutions.

  • Conduct network capacity planning and performance optimization for hybrid infrastructure environments.


Systems and Active Directory Administration (30%)



  • Serve as a backup resource to the existing System Administrator.

  • Manage and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including user accounts, group policies, and security permissions in a hybrid environment.

  • Implement and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments, including file, print, and application servers.

  • Configure and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security policies and system configurations.

  • Perform regular system maintenance, including patches, updates, and security fixes.

  • Manage and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical systems.

  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization.

  • Automate routine system administration tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools.

  • Provide technical support for Windows Server and Active Directory-related issues.


General Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with the IT team on infrastructure design and implementation.

  • Create and maintain documentation on configurations, procedures, and changes across all systems.

  • Prepare monthly reports on network and system performance, security metrics, and optimization opportunities.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance as needed.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of traditional networking and modern SDN principles.

  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration and Active Directory management.

  • In-depth understanding of zero-trust security architectures and micro-segmentation.

  • Experience with network and system automation.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities across physical and virtual environments.

  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies and security requirements.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on documentation and process automation.


Experience:



  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or a similar field is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an IT service organization with exposure to:

    • SDN and cloud networking

    • Windows Server administration

    • Active Directory management

    • Automation and security tools




Preferred or Nice-to-Have:



  • Industry certifications such as:

    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator

    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert

    • AWS Certified Advanced Networking

    • Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)



  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills

  • Experience with container networking and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Familiarity with modern monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus)

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with hybrid Active Directory environments (on-premises and Azure AD)

  • Experience with M&A activities and integrations
