About the Role
The Operations Project Manager supports smooth operations across the organization, with a priority focus on broadcast and merchandise project management. They are responsible for bringing Storm basketball to life through local broadcast, and the Storm brand to life through compelling merchandise offerings. They manage complex, cross-departmental projects, ensuring no detail is overlooked, evaluate and implement systems and processes to ensure alignment across departments, communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to completion, and support the organization’s growth with strategic execution. They manage relationships and solve problems balancing different departmental priorities including revenue generation, brand, and operational lift.
Key areas of focus include broadcast and merchandise operations. They will work closely with vendors, contracted talent, and the corporate partnerships and marketing departments to ensure the Storm produce a compelling show and that contracted broadcast assets are fulfilled. They will collaborate with our merchandise partner to grow the merchandise line of business and bring the Storm brand to fans through both online and in person sales efforts.

Broadcast Operations – Coordinate production, talent, technology, marketing assets, and corporate partnerships to ensure home and away broadcasts operate smoothly. Ensure games are on-air, as planned.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in business, sports management, media, or related field preferred.
Related Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and be technologically fluent across many software platforms and operating systems. They need to have experience managing systems to support complex, multi-stakeholder project management. They must be extremely detail oriented.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

- Manage vendor relationship with broadcast production partner. Establish, maintain, and refine systems and processes to ensure alignment between internal departmental needs and vendor execution.
- Act as primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders regarding broadcast show, staffing, and operations.
- Work closely with corporate partnerships department to manage local broadcast partner relationship, secure all contracted assets (reads, spots, graphics, etc.) for broadcast & ensure delivery. Through cross-department collaboration own and submit the broadcast grid, reads and spot log for all locally televised games.
- Collect proof of performance documentation to support both Corporate Partnerships and business plan reporting.
- Work closely with marketing and other revenue departments and the WNBA to ensure priority content and stories are shared in local broadcasts. Collaborate with Director of Business Operations to opportunistically leverage in-arena assets and plans to enhance broadcast show (and vice versa).
- League Vendors – Manage relationships with broadcast-related league-mandated vendors (e.g. Hawkeye) to ensure that game requirements are met, positive relationship is maintained and operations function smoothly.
- Proactively research and solicit feedback to continually improve our broadcast show and create a spectacular and engaging viewership experience.
- Assist with national broadcast execution as needed
- Support decision making with sales and inventory analysis.
- Execute pop-up merchandise events at Storm Center for Basketball Performance and in the community.
- Coordinate marketing efforts between Storm marketing team and partner marketing team to ensure alignment.
- Coordinate merchandise promotional efforts for home games with Director of Business Operations.
- Support Director of Business Operations with all home game execution.
- Regular weekend and evening work will be required, as this position will require the Operations Project Manager to be on site (Climate Pledge Arena or Center for Basketball Performance) for all locally broadcast games.
- Support operations department teammates as needed. Potential areas include facility operations, ticket operations special event management, office administration, IT.
- Implement and refine systems and processes to drive operational excellence across the organization. Eliminate blockers across Storm departments, drive collaborative projects forward, ensuring varying business priorities are balanced and details are accounted for.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in business, sports management, media, or related field preferred.
Related Experience
- 3+ years in project management, bonus if in live sporting events. Understanding the fast-paced sports environment is a must.
- Preference will be given to candidates with either knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production of live sporting events, experience with business side of merchandise line management, or both.
- Exceptional organization, prioritization, and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new circumstances, and solve problems. Versatility is valued.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
