JOB SUMMARY:

Provides specialized administrative and operational support to the regulated research program office, ensuring the secure management of regulated research data, including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This position supports compliance with federal regulations, export control standards, and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. The Program Coordinator focuses on program-wide activities, including recordkeeping, policy implementation, stakeholder coordination, and support for the Program Manager. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Program Administration: Coordinates information security activities across the regulated research program office, ensuring alignment with compliance objectives for CUI, CMMC, export control and various regulated research requirements. Supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to meet regulatory standards. Organizes and maintains centralized program records and compliance documentation.

25% - Essential - Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Prepares reports, summaries, and technical documentation required for audits, assessments, and compliance verification. Tracks updates to regulations and assists in updating policies or procedures to reflect new requirements. Assists in developing resources and tools to streamline compliance tracking and reporting.

20% - Essential - Stakeholder Communication and Coordination: Acts as a primary point of contact for program-wide inquiries related to regulated research data management and information security. Coordinates with internal departments and external partners to support compliance efforts. Drafts training materials, presentations, and communications to promote compliance awareness and understanding.

15% - Essential - Support to Program Leadership: Provides administrative and technical assistance to the Program Manager, program leadership and Office of Export Control. Assists with drafting strategic plans, procedural guides, and formal documents to enhance information security program operations. Contributes to cross-functional projects that strengthen compliance frameworks and secure data management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration, Research Administration, Information Systems, or a related field

Experience - Work experience 2+ years of administrative or operational support experience in compliance, research administration, or a related field

Based on security clearance requirements for this position, qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in a field directly related to compliance, research security, or information security, such as Compliance Management or Information Assurance

Experience - Work experience 3+ years in a research administration or regulated program support role with an emphasis on compliance. Familiarity with regulatory standards, NIST 800-171 or other security frameworks. Familiarity with GRC software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

90% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period

90% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself

WORKING CONDITIONS:

5% - Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5

Compensation Information

Expected Salary Range ($ 39,000.00 - $ 65,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
