About The Role
Under direction of the CEO and the VP of Human Resources, the HR Generalist performs the essential functions of the position, which includes but is not limited to:
What You'll Do
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.;
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices;
- Execute Time and Attendance processing. Audit timesheets accurately to ensure wages and benefits are properly distributed. Correct timesheets and researches discrepancies to ensure accuracy of time records and compliance with Company procedures, policies and guidelines as well as all federal, state and local requirements;
- Resolves discrepancies with payroll and/or benefit information and/or documentation, payroll, benefit provider/s, withholding VS. W4, salary status, etc. for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and employee payments;
- Manages 401k notifications and required documents to employees, and assists with annual filings;
- Assist in managing 401k plan, monitoring and auditing contributions, assisting in employee service requests;
- Assists in tracking and managing leaves of absence such as, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc.;
- Responsible for the administration and reconciliation of benefits, including medical, dental, vision and voluntary benefits;
- Assist in the administration of Performance Improvement Plans;
- Assist management with termination decisions and verbiage in termination causes;
- Tracking of MOU's and/or status changes in Company Wage Status Report and providing new and revised payroll agreements to appropriate personnel;
- Assist issuing final wage correspondence, notify health insurance companies and COBRA plans, ensure equipment return;
- Conduct exit interviews as needed;
- Preparation and maintains accurate payroll related documents and in compliance with Company procedures as well as all federal, state and local requirements, e.g. retirement plan information, payroll registers stop payments, W-2 controls, reports, memos, letters, garnishments, child support payments, for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references including but not limited to wage verifications;
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors;
- Track and manage out of state employer accounts to ensure timely payments of employer liabilities, ensure out of state employees are taxed properly;
- Assists in partnership with management to communicate payroll policies, procedures, programs and laws;
- Works with management to develop and finalize guidelines, processes and procedures;
- Ensures all confidential information remain confidential;
- Participating in recruitment efforts; posting job ads and organizing resumes and job applications;
- Orienting new employees to the organization (setting up a designated log-in, workstation, email address, etc.);
- Compliance audits for required postings;
- Assist with HR initiatives and projects as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4 years of Human Resources experience
- Bachelors Degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Extensive knowledge of federal labor law.
- Extensive knowledge of benefit administration and reconciliation.
- Experience in managing a Company retirement plan and the associated administrative tasks.
- Experience managing employer state accounts and managing employer liability payments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, or related software.
- Proficient with payroll software.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office; ability to use Internet and adapt to new software programs and changes in technology;
- Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks;
- Ability to solve practical problems; deal with concrete variables in situations; and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
- Ability to negotiate
