General Role Description

The Construction Services Project Engineer/Procurement Coordinator supports the Construction Services team in delivering all projects successfully. This individual will provide technical and administrative support to both the project manager and superintendents. The Construction Services Project Engineer/Procurement Coordinator possesses strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate to the General Contractor, Project Manager, Superintendents, Suppliers and all Subcontractors. This individual will have a good grasp of inner office relations, field operations relations, general contractor relations, supplier relations, and subcontractor relations. The Construction Services Project Engineer/Procurement Coordinator will be asked to participate in Team Meetings and Subcontractor Meetings. In addition, this individual will be exceptional at prioritizing tasks as well as being organized and motivated.

Key ResponsibilitiesRequired skills for a Construction Services Project Engineer / Procurement Coordinator:

  • Create the submittal, procurement, and closeout logs as it pertains to services on each project
  • Act as a proactive liaison between General Contractor, Suppliers, and Subcontractors
  • Ensure scoping, means and methods and schedule are synchronized between field operations and the subcontractors.
  • Read and understand the project contract and how it relates to our responsibilities
  • Pricing
  • 1. Request and confirm pricing based on the projects according to the plans and specifications
  • 2. Perform quantity takeoffs as it pertains to services on each project
  • 3. Perform detailed and accurate quantity survey
  • 4. Request pricing based on takeoffs performed
  • 5. Distribute and manage bid/pricing documents and addenda
  • 6. Manage bids
  • 7. Review plans and spec in details to capture scope gaps and risks
  • 8. Initiate, review and finalize supplier/subcontractor pricing
  • Submittals
  • 1. Review the contract documents to create a Submittal tracking log as it pertains to services on each project
  • 2. Request and track all submittal requirements from the supplier and/or subcontractor, to the General Contractor and back to all suppliers and/or subcontractors that will be affected by the submittal
  • 3. A thorough and timely review of the submittal when compared to the contract and city documents prior to their submittal to the General Contractor
  • 4. Compile submittal packages for submittals not provided by suppliers
  • Scheduling
  • 1. Review the Project Schedule to gain a complete understanding of the critical path and ensure buyout, submittals, and procurement are completed to support the critical path
  • 2. Work with project and services Superintendents to create and maintain project procurement log/schedule
  • 3. Update the project procurement schedule on a weekly basis from the superintendent's input
  • 4. Frequent dissemination of the updated procurement schedule to the supplier/subcontract base
  • 5. Use the procurement log/schedule as a guideline to prioritize submittals and shop approvals
  • Procurement
  • 1. Assist in managing the purchasing of materials, equipment, and services for each project.
  • 2. Assist with working with suppliers to ensure that projects receive the necessary materials on time and at a reasonable cost.
  • Contract Changes
  • 1. Distribution of all changed contract documents to supplier and subcontract base
  • 2. Vet document changes for scope and logistic implications
  • 3. Vet supplier and subcontractor change requests for accuracy in scope change
  • 4. RFI Creation, Tracking and Distribution
  • 5. Support the creation, tracking and reporting of all Pending Change Orders
  • 6. Support the creation, tracking and reporting of all Owner Change Orders
  • 7. Support the creation, tracking and reporting of all Supplier and Subcontractor Change Orders
  • Closeout Documents
  • 1. Assist with the preparation and execution of the project closeout process
