Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
- Own Multi-State Payroll
- Prepare and process payroll for employees across multiple states, staying informed about state and federal rules, tax changes, and reporting requirements.
- Responsible for payroll schedules, adjustments, and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Responsible for staying informed with multi-state regulations including overtime rules and local taxes, so we’re always compliant.
- Keep Us Compliant and Organized
- Ensure payroll and timekeeping processes follow all state and federal rules.
- Prepare and review payroll reports like W-2s, 941s, and state-specific filings, and process additional tax filings as needed.
- Proactively monitor changes in payroll laws and update processes as needed.
- Streamline and Improve
- Continuously seek opportunities to streamline payroll processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Proactively identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions to payroll challenges.
- Work with HR and Finance teams to find effectiveness and improve reporting.
- Support Employees and Managers
- Be the friendly expert for payroll and timekeeping questions, providing fast and helpful answers.
- Help new hires hit the ground by training them on timekeeping tools and policies.
- Support managers with timecard approvals, time-off requests, and payroll deadlines to keep everything on track.
- Offer ongoing support and training to make timekeeping a breeze for everyone.
- Support and Lead Audits
- Partner with internal and external auditors during payroll, benefit, 401K, and worker’s comp audits, providing requested data and documentation with accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure payroll data integrity by regularly auditing systems and processes to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed, organized records to support compliance, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Act as a leader in audit initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders to implement improvements based on findings.
- Manage Benefit Invoice Reconciliations
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices with payroll deductions, making sure providers get paid accurately and on time.
- Dig into any billing issues and work with HR and vendors to clear them up quickly.
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll management experience.
- Deep knowledge of payroll laws and compliance, especially for multi-state operations.
- Experience with payroll software (like ADP or Paycor) and confidence navigating new systems.
- Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- You’re clear, approachable, and know how to keep things moving.
- Experience navigating multi-state payroll intricacies, like varying tax rates, local compliance requirements, and state-specific regulations.
- You’re proactive and love tackling challenges head-on, finding creative solutions to complex payroll and timekeeping issues.
- You’ve got a knack for breaking down complex concepts and training others with ease.
- You’re organized, deadline-driven, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is key.
- You excel at collaboration, working seamlessly with HR, Finance, and other teams to align payroll and benefit processes while building strong, positive relationships across departments.
- A proven track record of troubleshooting payroll discrepancies, benefit billing issues, and employee concerns with precision and empathy.
- While this role doesn’t involve managing a team, having experience mentoring others or being a trusted advisor in payroll practices is a big plus.
- Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working as a radiation worker.
- Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Frequent use of computer with repetitive use of keyboard, mouse, and manual dexterity.
- 2-8 weeks of travel per year for site visits, visiting vendors, and attending conferences.
