Program Director Nonprofit Organization
The Pathway Director assumes a multifaceted role overseeing mentoring and enrichment pathway programs to high school, college, and medical students. This position establishes key partnerships with educational institutions (high schools, colleges, and medical schools), actively engages in student recruitment efforts, and the cultivation of relationships with hospitals, clinical sites, and physicians. Through these relationships, the Pathway Director facilitates mentorships, shadowing opportunities, clinical and skills training, and research experiences for students. Furthermore, this role monitors the effectiveness of the mentoring program, the implementation of individual learning plans, and the achievement of SMART goals for students, ensuring the success of each student's educational pathway.
The ultimate goal of this position is to ensure that 10 premed students from the program matriculate into medical school every year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pathway Director is assigned to the following:
- Identify underserved premed college students
- SC, Network with Los Angeles college campus (UCLA, CDU, CSULA, CSULB)
- Network with greater Los Angeles colleges (CUSM, UCR, CSUSB)
- Oversight of multiple student cohorts.
- Ensure that 20 students take MCAT in 12 months
- Create a student engagement program with a team lead student in each school or cohort.
- Coordinate and monitor MCAT prep programs for all the students (includes working with Need Assessment Director, MCAT tutors, and students) and provide a monthly report with updates to the CEO.
- Coordinate and monitor mentor-mentoring pairings of all the students with medical student mentor, provide a monthly report with updates to the CEO.
- Create a professional relationship with college counselors, college deans and directors of admission in medical schools.
- Develop a relationship with clinical volunteer position departments in major hospitals, or other clinical sites, in the Los Angeles areas with the objective of placing DOF mentees in voluntary clinical roles.
- Monitor student progress regarding progress towards MCAT exam (including scheduling for MCAT and monitoring mock MCAT score progress).
- Provide oversite over mentee’s medical school application in areas of community activities, research, clinical experience, leaderships roles, letters of recommendation, and mock interviews.
- Secondary duties include:
- Oversight over high school mentoring program
- Oversight over medical student mentoring program
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Preferred: Master's Degree, in Education, Health Services Administration, Psychology, Nursing, or English from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum: One year of relevant responsible work experience
- Preferred: Prior administrative experience in an academic setting.

- Ability to assemble and organize presentation of data for analysis by educational leadership.

- Ability to organize and prioritize workloads to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Experience in career counseling and/or exam preparation (particularly for medical professional exams)
- Ability to work closely with CEO/President, College Counselors, College Deans and Directors of Admission in Medical Schools in Los Angeles, Clinical Partners, Physicians, Medical Students, College Students, High School Students, the Operation Officers, Associate Directors, and MCAT Tutors to produce successful learning events.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of any and all information regarding student test scores, personnel, and/or clinical evaluations.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- The successful candidate must have a strong user and working knowledge of Word and Excel in order to maintain records.
