The role
The IT Technician will provide IT support and services to the firm, ensuring smooth operation of systems and technology. They will assist in resolving helpdesk tickets, supporting applications, maintaining system security, and delivering user training. Working under the IT Manager and reporting to the Head of Operations & Innovation, this role is integral to maintaining an efficient, secure, and user-friendly IT environment.

Examples Of The Responsibilities For The Role Include
Support
- Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.
- Provide first-line and second-line IT support to staff across the firm.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Escalate complex problems to the IT Manager or third-party vendors as necessary.
- Support the use of core applications and resolve user issues.
- Assist configuration and troubleshooting of Case Management Systems and other legal software.
- Liaise with software vendors to resolve application-related issues.
- Ensure daily and scheduled backups are completed successfully.
- Investigate and resolve backup failures promptly.
- Conduct periodic tests to verify data integrity and recovery processes.
- Plan and execute software upgrades and updates across the firm.
- Perform regular maintenance to ensure systems are running efficiently.
- Document and maintain software installation guides and procedures.
- Identify and remediate vulnerabilities in the IT environment, including patching systems.
- Ensure antivirus and endpoint protection solutions are up to date.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to implement security policies and updates.
- Image, configure, and deploy new desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Maintain inventory and asset tracking for IT equipment.
- Manage decommissioning and secure disposal of obsolete equipment.
- Deliver IT inductions for new staff, ensuring they are familiar with systems and procedures.
- Provide ongoing training for users on IT systems and software.
- Develop and maintain user guides and training materials.
The main attributes we look for are:
Essential
- Previous experience in an IT support role, preferably within a professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Office 365, and Active Directory.
- Experience with backup systems and data recovery processes.
- Familiarity with endpoint management, imaging, and deployment tools.
- Basic understanding of network principles (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues effectively.
- Experience working with Case Management Systems (e.g., P4W or similar).
- Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and practices.
- Exposure to legal sector IT requirements and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to learning new technologies and systems.
- Commitment to maintaining a secure and compliant IT environment.
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent) are desirable.
- IT-related degree or equivalent professional experience is beneficial.
