Redeployment has been hired by a leading life sciences company seeking a Director of Finance to provide strategic financial insights and forecasting, with a primary focus on clinical-stage programs while also supporting preclinical and discovery efforts. This role involves close collaboration across R&D, Legal, Finance, and CMC, leveraging market intelligence and strategic analysis to drive business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage annual budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Provide detailed performance analysis, identifying trends, variances, and areas for corrective action.
- Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership and the board, offering insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Conduct research and data analysis to gain deep insights into market trends and products.
- Maintain and improve systems for clinical study cost accruals.
- Act as a strategic partner to R&D and Clinical teams, integrating financial insights into cross-functional decision-making.
- Align program-level forecasts with broader portfolio and enterprise planning.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and competitive developments to inform long-term strategic planning.
- Lead ad-hoc financial analyses, supporting cost optimization, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.
- Develop forecasts for pipeline programs from preclinical research through commercialization.
- Provide scenario analyses to support leadership decision-making and long-range financial planning.
- Support the enhancement of finance-related information systems to improve efficiency.
- Assist with financial modeling for income tax planning and revenue recognition for research collaborations.
Education and Experience:
- Must be based in San Diego, with the ability to work in-office.
- 5+ years of experience in forecasting, analytics, or strategic planning within the biopharmaceutical or life sciences industry, with exposure to various stages of drug development preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, life sciences, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of forecasting methodologies for pipeline programs, inline products, and enterprise planning.
- Experience integrating secondary research, primary research, and data analytics into financial forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively influence senior leadership.

- Strong strategic thinking skills to synthesize data and insights into actionable recommendations.
- Experience partnering across R&D, Clinical, and Finance teams to drive business strategy.
- Expertise in financial forecasting, portfolio modeling, and scenario planning.
- Knowledge of therapeutic area landscapes, competitive intelligence, and market dynamics.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey insights to executive leadership.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level financial and operational planning.
Pay range: $175K-$225K
