Overview: This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join a growing renewable energy company. The UKA Group is an experienced developer, owner and operator of wind farms in Germany, who entered the US market in 2017. Currently, UKA North America is looking for a talented Financial Analyst to complement our US team and to develop successful wind and solar projects in North America. The candidate will play a key role in performing critical financial analysis and project valuation thereby contributing to the effective operational and strategic direction of our growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial analysis and other analytical support for renewable generation growth opportunities, both greenfield and acquisitions
  • Creates economic project assessments for wind and solar projects at all stages of project development and provides feedback to the development team and management
  • Regular review and update of project financial models for wind, solar and storage projects under development
  • Creating project comparisons between different models and prioritizations/rankings using different scenarios, equipment, metrics and simulations
  • Supports development and assessment of project revenue model including evaluation of forward energy curves
  • Supports continuous monitoring and assessment of model inputs including costs, interest rates, tax equity, tax incentives and other factors that influence project values
  • Ensures all inputs to project models have been confirmed by project developer
  • .Assists in the evaluation of new financial modeling tools
  • Development of appropriate reporting in consultation with the management in order to continuously track the achievement of the objectives and deviations from the established business plans
  • Supports reporting of projected values, costs and revenues for projects and company liquidity plans
  • Supports development of internal financial and business plans as assigned
  • Perform ad hoc analysis, including the creation of financial models, to support the business as required

Required skills

  • Financial modeling background with an understanding of the principles of financial analysis
  • Fluent with valuation techniques and financial metrics for renewable power projects
  • Experience with discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, specifically in the renewable power sector
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages and to prioritize appropriately
  • Expert level competency in MS Excel;
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, challenging and fast paced environment
  • A proactive, independent thinker who can figure things out with limited direction
  • Comfortable making suggestions that can improve existing process and reporting

Education and experience

  • Three (3) years of progressive financial experience, preferably within the energy industry
  • Degree in business, finance, economics, or other applicable degree
  • Professional Designation (CFA) or advanced degree (MBA) strongly preferred
  • Previous financial modeling and/or investment banking experience is desirable
