Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on, and results-driven Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of our online business and ensure seamless logistics and supply chain management. The ideal candidate will be both a tactical and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, capable of driving operational efficiency, optimizing processes, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end ecommerce operations, including order processing, inventory management, and fulfillment
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and improve efficiency, including analyzing and negotiating deals with 3PLs
- Monitor ecommerce platforms and ensure proper functionality and accuracy in product listings, pricing, and inventory
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
- Manage logistics operations, including shipping, warehousing, and last-mile delivery
- Directly oversee product sourcing to ensure high-quality products delivered timely and at the lowest cost.
- Coordinate with carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
- Optimize inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts while minimizing holding costs
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to order fulfillment, delivery times, and operational efficiency
- Analyze data and generate reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Provide regular updates to senior management and recommend actionable strategies
- Customer Experience:
- Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve order and delivery issues
- Implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience, including faster shipping, accurate tracking, and improved packaging
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a small team of operations and logistics staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment
- Conduct training sessions to ensure the team is aligned with best practices and company standards
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety requirements related to ecommerce and logistics
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain and operational processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
- Proven experience in ecommerce operations, logistics, and supply chain management
- Previous experience sourcing products overseas (e.g., China, Taiwan, India, Vietnam, etc.)
- Proficiency in ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify), inventory management systems (e.g., Katana) and 3PL systems (e.g., ShipBob).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Leadership and team management experience
- Knowledge of shipping methods, international trade, and import/export regulations
- Familiar with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (e.g., QBO)
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
