Job Title: Firmware Engineer

Location: Remote role

Duration: Fulltime

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for safety-critical systems in compliance with DO-254 guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and system architects, to ensure the successful integration of firmware with hardware.
  • Implement algorithms and functionality in C/C++ or similar programming languages.
  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software deliverables.
  • Utilize MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, simulation, and automatic code generation where applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation according to DO-254 standards, including design, traceability, and verification reports.
  • Participate in design and system review meetings, providing technical guidance and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for avionics firmware.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in avionics or other safety-critical industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of DO-254, including experience with development, verification, and certification processes.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and embedded system development.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and debugging.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • MATLAB and Simulink experience for modeling, simulation, and code generation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a regulated environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with avionics communication protocols (e.g., ARINC, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Experience with static analysis and formal verification tools.
  • Knowledge of FPGA/ASIC development processes.
