About the Opportunity: A public biotech company is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager Consultant to lead multi-state payroll processing for 100+ employees using Paylocity. This 100% remote role requires working PST hours. The ideal candidate will have public company experience and a strong background in Paylocity.

Duration: Starts ASAP and will run 3-6 months minimum with potential for extension

Location: San Diego, CA – 100% Remote working PST hours

Compensation: $50-70/HR

Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.

Scope

  • Manage and oversee bi-weekly, multi-state payroll processing and reporting for 100+ employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
  • Oversee equity transactions in collaboration with an external stock administrator.
  • Ensure adherence to public company payroll reporting standards and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries, providing prompt and accurate resolutions.
  • Handle payroll accounting, including recurring journal entries for accrued PTO, benefits, and other payroll-related expenses.

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar is preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience in a small to mid-size company
  • Strong experience with Paylocity (ideally at least 3 years experience)
  • Public company experience preferred
