ob Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management and Service Mapping Specialist to manage and optimize the lifecycle of IT hardware assets using the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective hardware asset management processes, ensuring alignment between hardware assets and business services through service mapping. This role will contribute to optimizing asset utilization, reducing costs, and ensuring the seamless operation of critical IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Asset Management (HAM) with ServiceNow:
- Manage the full lifecycle of hardware assets, from procurement to decommissioning, within the ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management module.
- Ensure accurate asset records are maintained in the ServiceNow CMDB, including tracking of hardware configurations, locations, ownership, warranty, and lifecycle status.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Finance teams to ensure accurate tracking of hardware purchases, cost management, and reporting.
- Perform regular audits and reconcile physical assets with ServiceNow CMDB data to ensure data accuracy.
- Track asset warranties and maintenance agreements, providing alerts for renewals and expirations.
- Assist in cost analysis and depreciation of hardware assets for financial reporting.
- Service Mapping:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance service maps in ServiceNow to define relationships between hardware assets and the business services they support.
- Collaborate with Service Owners, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure hardware dependencies are accurately mapped to business services and applications.
- Conduct Service Mapping integration to visualize end-to-end business service dependencies, ensuring that IT services are linked to the appropriate hardware assets.
- Maintain and update Service Mapping models to reflect changes in the infrastructure, hardware components, and business services.
- Leverage Service Mapping insights for proactive incident management, change management, and performance monitoring.
- CMDB & Integration Management:
- Ensure that all hardware-related data within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is accurate, up-to-date, and properly aligned with business services.
- Collaborate with the ServiceNow Discovery tool to identify and map hardware assets automatically to the CMDB.
- Integrate service maps with other ITSM processes, such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT operations.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Generate regular reports and dashboards on asset performance, utilization, and status, highlighting areas for optimization or cost savings.
- Provide insights into hardware lifecycle trends, cost management, and risk management based on data collected from ServiceNow.
- Support stakeholders with ad-hoc reporting needs related to hardware assets and service mapping.
- Incident and Problem Management:
- Work closely with the Incident and Problem Management teams to provide visibility into the impact of hardware failures on business services.
- Use service maps to identify affected services and facilitate quick recovery when hardware issues arise.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proactive monitoring and alerting of hardware assets that impact key business services.
- Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously review and optimize asset management and service mapping processes to ensure the most efficient use of hardware resources.
- Recommend improvements to hardware asset tracking, service mapping accuracy, and integration with other ITIL processes.
- Stay up-to-date with ServiceNow updates, new features, and best practices to drive efficiency and streamline workflows.
