Job Summary
The Manager, Technical Product Management is responsible for managing a group of Technical Product Owners and ensuring they follow the approved procedures required to help them execute on roadmap plans. This role is responsible for proactively reporting any risks or blockers to leadership in order to gain the support needed for product goals and commitments to be achieved.
The Manager leads their team in the direction of senior management and ensures that the team is staffed properly, that employees have the training and tools they need, that company objectives are met and that the department is managed to perform within approved budgets. The Manager is a tactical leader for day-to-day interaction and decision making for the team and/or function. They provide estimates required to support team needs, manage schedules, and assign work to meet service targets. They could be needed to support their team with requirement writing, backlog grooming, planning, etc.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Note: the basic need to look at a computer screen 8 hours a day.

- Responsible for a team of employees within the department.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of team.
- Communicates policy, standards, processes and ensures team knows and understands product strategy, vision and goals.
- Assigns and schedules employee tasks.
- Supports continual improvement, problem solving and change management.
- Proactively communicates risks and blockers.
- Manages Agile development methodologies.
- Leads team to create and maintain technical product roadmaps or delivery plans.
- Upholds all policies and procedures and company culture and values.
- Manages to the budget set by senior management.
- Manages product initiatives to continue enhancing the assigned product portfolio.
- Drives strategies and product vision and goals with Product Managers and Product Owners.
- Contributes to both the short and long term direction for assigned products.
- Ensures that documentation and artifacts that Product Owners are responsible for are staying up to date and are complete (i.e. roadmaps/delivery plans, requirements, diagrams, etc.).
- Oversees Agile Scrum and SDLC processes and ensures they are being implemented end-to-end consistently with corporate process.
- Provides employee and development oversight by working with the employees to provide direction, assisting them with working through issues and concerns, helping them to grow within their preferred career path and providing positive leadership examples, encouragement and support.
- Provides consultative sessions to customers in partnership with Product Managers as a recognized Subject Matter Expert in regards to assigned product portfolio and direction.
- Align product development efforts with the larger product strategy and vision.
- Validate enhancements that have been rolled out have met the needs of our customers per feedback from the Product Manager.
- Maintain a team of knowledgeable employees with strong execution skills that deliver product solutions which achieve goals.
- Supporting the Customer Resource Center, Sales and Product Management teams personnel for escalated technical support.
- Experience or equivalent to a 4-year college degree.
- The minimum amount of relevant work experience required to successfully perform the job is six (6) years.
- 4+ years of experience with SDLC/Agile development technologies including user story definition.
- 4+ years of experience working with large development teams with multiple scrum teams and development interdependencies.
- 3+ years of experience building roadmaps and working in roadmap and requirements management systems such as Aha, Jira and Azure.
- 3+ years of experience working with APIs/web service technologies.
