They are competent in all aspects of building systems, energy management, and the commissioning process. They evaluate, select, and adapt/modify standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet job-specific needs. They devise new solutions to problems encountered and independently perform assignments to achieve expected results. They are supported by an experienced team that provides technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and assistance in developing effective project plans. They work collaboratively with peers and junior team members to deliver results that exceed customer expectations.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The overall objective of this position is to coordinate and support the various tasks related to Building Enclosure Commissioning. Building Enclosure Consults must have an in-depth understanding of the field.

Main responsibilities of the Building Enclosure Consultant include (but are not limited to):

Review and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and submittal documents to support peer review and design consulting for building enclosures.

Conduct site visits to inspect and monitor construction progress, assess and document conditions and issues, track and report findings.

Conduct site visits to support and/or perform building forensic investigations and document existing conditions of various building typologies.

Conduct review, tracking, and logging of project data using CxAlloy, MS Excel, and Outlook.

Produce summary reports, field observation reports, technical reports, and presentations and deliver them to clients, multidisciplinary project teams, and other relevant parties.

Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other project team members.

Requirements and Qualifications

The position requires the ability to work independently and in a team and gives tremendous room for personal growth and professional development within our growing company.

The following qualifications are required:

Bachelors/Specialists degree in Architecture, or Architectural Engineering and 3+ years’ experience in Architectural Design, Building Enclosure Consulting or Building Construction fields.

Comprehension of building envelope control layers, enclosure systems and construction.

An understanding of the sequence of construction and critical path to the successful installation of and assembly and construction schedule.

Familiarity and competency with interpreting Architectural drawings sets, details, and assemblies.

Demonstrable capability to think critically, communicate clearly, and work independently with limited direction.

Demonstrable capability to time manage, keep a calendar, and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Able to travel for work regionally and nationally up to 20% of time, dependent on project locations.

Ability to perform work from scaffolds, ladders, lifts, roofs etc.

Note this job will require OSHA training, provided to new hires.

The following qualifications are preferred:

Confidence to use fundamental software (MS Office Suite), Bluebeam (preferred) and learn new software (CxAlloy).

Postgraduate and/or Advanced degree and/or Licensure in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Technology a plus.

Familiarity with ASTM/AAMA exterior envelope testing standards and practices.

Familiarity with energy analysis software (THERM, Designbuilder, etc.) are pluses.

Familiarity and competency with CSI Division specifications and project manuals preferred.
