To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
Associate s degree in forest management or an environmental or natural science curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of related experience in providing forestry services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver s license required within 90 days of hire.

Educational State Forest Supervisor Duties Include
- Supervising education ranger.
- Develop and present forestry and environmental education programs for school groups, civic groups, the general public, teachers, and environmental education workshops.
- Coordinate a volunteer program involving local individuals, non-profit organizations, and civic groups.
- Design and coordinate construction and maintenance of forest trails, parking lots, picnic areas, buildings, and exhibits.
- Develop and administer service contracts.
- Enforce forest administrative rules and coordinate with NCFS and local law enforcement officers.
- Assist in wildfire suppression efforts and serve on an all-risk Incident Management Team.
- Work with Bladen Lakes State Forest (BLSF) Supervisor, Ass. BLSF Forest Supervisor and BLSF Management Forester to develop and implement the forest management plan, including but not limited to prescribed burning, timber harvesting, site preparation, reforestation, timber stand improvement, BMP implementation, and wildlife habitat and forest health improvements.

- Ability to establish positive working relationships.
- Ability to organize, train and/or supervise others.
- Completion of the N.C. Forest Service’s Ranger Training Program.
- Certified Environmental Educator.
- Experience with general maintenance of facilities and equipment.
