Gage Park Latinx Council (GPLXC) is a community-driven organization that empowers the Latinx community through mutual aid, education, and cultural programming. Our work centers on providing critical resources, fostering youth leadership, and advocating for social justice. We operate both a Cultural Center and a Wellness Center serving as inclusive spaces for community engagement and support.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing programs that align with GPLXC’s mission. This position ensures programs run smoothly, meet community needs, and contribute to GPLXC’s broader impact. The Program Coordinator supports both the Cultural Center and Wellness Center helping to create meaningful, community-centered programming. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for youth engagement and a deep understanding of the unique needs of the Latinx community.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Coordination & Execution
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of GPLXC programs.
  • Ensure all logistical elements (e.g., scheduling, volunteers, materials) are in place.
  • Provide support and resources to community members.
  • Track and monitor participation and engagement through surveys, attendance records, and other systems, making recommendations for improvement.
Community Engagement & Outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, partner organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to promote programs and increase participation.
  • Gather feedback to improve program effectiveness.
Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and impact metrics.
  • Assist in preparing reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring responsible use of resources.
Volunteer & Staff Coordination
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers involved in GPLXC programming.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure alignment across initiatives.
  • Support a culture of collaboration within GPLXC and among community partners.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Adapt programs based on community feedback and emerging needs.
  • Participate in GPLXC-wide initiatives and contribute to the overall mission of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in community organizing, nonprofit program management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with GPLXC’s mission and Latinx community issues.
  • Strong administrative and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish/English (Bilingual required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Strong understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of the Queer & Latinx community, particularly youth in Gage Park and Chicago’s Southwest side.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with youth development frameworks and best practices.
  • Commitment to social justice and LGBTQ+ rights.
Work Environment
  • In-person and community-based activities.
  • 4-day work week, 28 hours per week.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours based on program needs.
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities for professional growth.
