Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Commodity Buyer at Hormel Foods. The day-to-day tasks include supplier evaluation, supplier management, procurement, and supply chain management. The role is located in Austin, MN with the flexibility for some work from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop & Implement the Cirtuo Strategy for procuring tree nuts and other agricultural crops

Negotiate short-term, annual, and long-term supply agreements to align with AOP guidance.

- Continuously monitor markets for strategic forward buys and substitute raw material purchases to reduce total costs and support T&M goals.

- Manage one salaried direct report.

- Collaborate with BP&A, FP&A, sales, and marketing to provide forecast guidance for pricing and promotional decisions.

- Foster and strengthen supplier relationships.

- Develop a deep understanding of end-to-end global supply chains to minimize TCO for purchased raw material.

- Lead and support strategic internal and external meetings and presentations to customers.

- Manage DataServ to ensure payment of invoices and compliance with suppliers.

- Assist in vacation coverage and support other category managers.

- Optimize freight points within our network to minimize cost.

- Attend annual conferences (PTNPA, INC, etc…) in support of categories managed.

Qualifications

  • Supplier Evaluation and Supplier Management skills
  • Purchasing and Procurement expertise
  • Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in negotiations and contract management
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Certifications in procurement or supply chain management are a plus
  • 4+ years in Procurement or other Supply Chain capacity.
