Job Description
We are looking for a Research Associate with expertise in Molecular and Cellular Biology to assist the development of technologies for clinical research and molecular diagnostics systems. Reporting to our Director of Assay, this is a hands-on, bench level position with key responsibilities in the area of real-time PCR assays, and a unique opportunity to be part of a small, growing company working on projects that are particularly important in the current global environment. Flexibility is important in adjusting to changes in work volume and focus in a fast-paced, early stage company environment.
General Responsibilities
Independently perform, evaluate, validate, and optimize multiplex PCR assays, real-time PCR instruments, and consumables.
Perform DNA/RNA extraction, cell culture in BSL1 or 2 environments
Evaluate, test, and develop new assays, procedures, and methods
Collect and analyze data with good laboratory practices and draw scientific conclusions
Maintain quality control notebook, records, and documentation
Foster and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols, while ensuring that all reagents and supplies consistently meet established quality control standards
Conduct incoming reagent inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications, verifying that all materials meet required criteria
Prepare weekly progress reports, and present data to colleagues and supervisors to aid in informed decision-making
Work within established quality systems to ensure all processes, procedures, and documentation meet regulatory and industry standards
