Business Analyst - Trading & Reporting
Our client, a top-tier Management & Strategy Consulting firm, is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support a leading US Bank. As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting investment banking operations, specifically focusing on trading and reporting of Fixed Income, Repos, and Money Market instruments. This role involves the development of a custom platform to consolidate scattered derivatives data into a centralized 'golden copy.'
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Derivative Trading, Interest Trade Swaps, Hedge Accounting, and hands-on experience with SQL, including writing complex SQL queries. The candidate should also be proficient in Swaps data, hedging, hedge relationships, hedge bonds, and mark-to-market values. Strong skills in writing BRDs, excellent communication abilities, and the capability to interact effectively with users are essential.
Qualification & Responsibilities:
- Elicit business requirements from business users and subject matter experts, define and document requirements, write functional specifications, and perform business process design in conjunction with operations teams.
- Serve as a liaison between the internal/external business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
- Lead requirements validation and traceability analysis, manage scope and requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the development of common standards and tools, assist in operational rollout and support, and translate business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization.
- Gather requirements from business line users for various systems and fully document all requirements and solutions.
- Liaise with internal and external technology partners.
- Work closely with administration, technology, and operations partners.
- Participate in releases, perform system integration testing, and organize user acceptance testing.
- Prepare project status reports for Senior Management.
- Utilize strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a particular emphasis on producing clear and detailed business requirements and functional specifications.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of booking trades for Fixed Income, Repos, and Money Market instruments as well as risk and regulatory reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in Derivative Trading, Interest Rate Swaps, Hedge Accounting, Swaps data, hedge relationships, hedge bonds, and mark-to-market valuation.
- Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write complex SQL queries for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP) related to derivatives and fixed income securities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex concepts to stakeholders at various levels.
- Requires both independent (self-motivated) work and collaboration with a distributed team (i.e., physically located in other regions).
- Must build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology partners.
- Understand and analyze business processes & workflows.
- Strong background in Investment Banking, specifically in trading and reporting of Fixed Income, Repos, and Money Market instruments.
- Experience working in a highly regulated financial environment with a strong understanding of compliance requirements.
- Prior experience working on large-scale data consolidation projects or platform migrations is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
