The RCM Principal Trainer will be the content expert for their respective application(s). Responsible for mastering an Epic application. They develop and lead the implementation of the training program and associated training materials for their respective application(s) in coordination with other Principal Trainers for applications that share a portion of the end user's workflow. The training program should meet initial and ongoing training needs and support usability (i.e. proficiency) program led by the Epic Training Team Manager. Training methods may include classroom, web-based learning, remote instruction, one-on-one coaching, and a variety of written material.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Under direct supervision of Information Technology leadership, the RCM Principal Trainer will be responsible for:

  • Develop and implement the training program for their respective application(s).
  • Build, test, and maintain the Epic training environment.
  • Create and maintain all training materials.
  • Train and credential additional classroom trainers for end-user training.
  • Work with IT Management, Operations Management, and Epic application analysts to develop and deploy training appropriate for the end users (physicians/mid-levels/staff) including but not limited to new hires and existing employees.
  • Coordinate training for new software releases and updates.
  • Act as a liaison between the build team and the end user.
  • Provide the Project Management team with identified risks and concerns.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned. Identify performance gaps and bring forth issues/concerns as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Identify training environment issues or curriculum issues due to upgrades or other factors and bring forth issues/concerns as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of any change requests made to existing applications as well as educating end-users on changes, review of release notes and preparation for and implementation of planned upgrades.
  • Follow established program and departmental policies, procedures, and technical standards; and related duties as assigned.
  • Analyzes a variety of assessment data (reports, end-user performance) to determine and meet the educational needs of the adult learner.
  • Conducts bi-monthly new employee orientation classes.
  • Develop and deliver training for new system modules, enhancements, and operations initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains training materials.
  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency of associated workflows.
  • Collaborates with the Epic analyst team to test, develop, and deliver training materials related to system version upgrades and quarterly system updates.
  • Works with subject matter experts, champions, and super users to resolve issues in support of training and education.
  • Responsible for being available to work on an on-call basis for system upgrades, go-lives and departmental needs.
  • Assist with Help Desk tickets.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare information systems and ideally Epic Systems.
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, self-motivating, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous knowledge, skills and experience in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating training needs
  • Familiar with adult education and best practices regarding adult learning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Work as a productive member of a cohesive group toward, actively engaging all team members toward a common goal and contributing to team development and effective team dynamics.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

License/Certification:

  • Epic Curriculum Certification
  • Epic Training Environment Certification (TED300)

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $67K-$101K, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
