Role Overview:
The Lead Data Engineer / Software Engineer will be playing a pivotal role in data engineering, API development, and related technologies. This position requires a strong foundation in software engineering, particularly within consumer finance and contact center solutions, alongside exceptional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with organizational stakeholders to drive projects forward.
- Establish credibility as an engineering leader to encourage collaboration with architects and principal engineers for technical innovation and process improvement.
- Design, create, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS.
- Develop and implement data ingestion and processing pipelines using Big Data technologies, ensuring seamless integration from various data sources (e.g., RDBMS, APIs, flat files).
- Ensure data integrity and quality by developing automated data validation checks.
- Execute data processing and transformation using technologies such as Spark and Cloud Services, implementing business logic in supported languages.
- Develop scalable frameworks for data collection, transformation, and distribution to support omni-channel customer communications.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to optimize data collection, insights, and display.
- Identify trends and patterns in complex data sets and develop frameworks using data visualization tools to present analytical and actionable results to stakeholders.
- Utilize data visualization tools to present consolidated, actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior team members and promote best industry practices.
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer in consumer finance or a similar industry.
- Strong educational background in math, statistics, computer science, or data science.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Snowflake, Java, Scala, Python, or C#.
- Hands-on experience with technologies like HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, Kafka, Oozie/Airflow, and AWS.
- Proficiency in data mining/programming tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, R) and database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redshift).
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- AWS certification and experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) are advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Spark Streaming, Kafka Streaming/Kafka Connect, ELK Stack, Cassandra/MongoDB, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
- Direct experience with AWS services: VPC, S3, CloudFront, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, Active MQ, Step Functions, Elastic/Open Search.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Prior experience in financial services and cloud-based solutions.
