Additional Information: The role will require occasional work during Friday and Saturday evenings for deployment activities. The workweek schedule will be adjusted to accommodate these activities as needed.
Position Overview:
This role supports an initiative to develop a modern and resilient payment platform that processes payments for lending customers, including home, personal, auto, and credit card lending. Designed to integrate with digital channels, this platform will ensure consistent and reliable service for millions of users. The project aims to make the platform fully operational 24/7 by September 2025, addressing current gaps in availability while supporting the bank s growing customer base. As part of this effort, the team is focused on improving system performance, scalability, and maintainability through refactoring existing systems and building new applications. The Solution Architect Lead will play a vital role in this initiative by designing and delivering solutions that align with business requirements and operational goals. Collaborating with a cross-functional team of architects, engineers, and developers, the role involves evaluating existing systems, creating innovative designs, and guiding implementations to ensure the platform s success. The position also serves as a key technical resource for the team, bridging business needs with technical execution to support seamless integration and deployment. Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional IT experience, including programming, systems analysis, or engineering, with a broad understanding of information systems.
- 6+ years of expertise in Java/Spring Boot, code refactoring, and building applications for large-scale deployment.
- 4+ years of experience with J2EE application servers (e.g., WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Spring) and integration tools such as TIBCO and Informatica PowerCenter/IDQ.
- Proven experience with SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture), ESB (Enterprise Service Bus), JMS messaging, XML, web services integration, and transaction processing.
- Demonstrated understanding of modern enterprise architecture, application integration platforms, and middleware.
- Expertise in designing and modeling reusable business objects and services with forward-thinking about business needs.
- Knowledge of relational data structures and data warehousing methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to gain consensus on technical solutions.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- ITIL v3 certifications.
- Certifications in Java or Domain-Driven Design and Modeling.
- Experience with modern enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and development teams to ensure technology solutions align with architectural standards and enterprise strategies.
- Assess business requirements and create technical specifications to develop solutions for enterprise systems, workflows, and integrations.
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, SOA, and middleware tools like TIBCO and Informatica PowerCenter.
- Refactor existing code to improve performance, scalability, and resilience, addressing gaps in current systems.
- Develop and implement integrations for J2EE application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss, and Tomcat, leveraging XML, JMS messaging, and web services.
- Lead research and development efforts, including proofs of concept and prototypes, to introduce and evaluate new technologies.
- Conduct QA and architectural reviews during various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and project-specific requirements.
- Plan and execute deployment activities, including Friday and Saturday night implementations as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to production systems.
- Monitor and maintain production systems by performing regular health checks, addressing capacity planning, and resolving incidents.
- Act as the technical owner for domain-specific solutions, serving as the primary point of contact for production issues and critical incidents.
- Document current and future-state architecture, operational procedures, and solutions within the Enterprise Architecture Repository for ongoing reference and compliance.
- Assist in defining and implementing service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for solutions in production.
- Facilitate communication between IS workgroups and business stakeholders, providing updates on technical issues and project progress.
- Participate in creating near- and mid-term architectural roadmaps to address current gaps and support future business growth.
- Provide input to the Project Management Office (PMO) on level-of-effort (LOE) estimates, technical resource planning, and project timelines.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Regularly review ongoing implementations to identify and implement performance improvements and enhancements.
- Assist in the adoption and implementation of IS Service Management processes, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Knowledge Management.
