Location: Richmond VA - 5 days every-other-week in Richmond
W2 POSITION

Position is in Richmond. Do not submit a candidate who is not prepared to work 5 days every-other-week in Richmond, for the hourly rate you have proposed. Please work this out before you accept an interview. Job may require traveling from one Richmond office (e.g. downtown) to another (e.g. Innsbrook). Contractor to provide his / her own transportation between offices. Position may require occasional out-of-town travel. If a project requires travel, it would typically be a trip once every 2-3 months. Travel expenses are reimbursable. Contractor(s) will be expected to comply with the client's hybrid office and work-from-home policies, which generally specify alternating weeks in the office and working from home. Contractor(s) will be responsible for finding and paying for parking. The client will provide computer and associated equipment for the office. The contractor is responsible for outfitting their home office. The client does not provide company cell phone.
Scrum Master Role
Role:
With the client, the Scrum Master plays a crucial role in the Agile and Product development realm for infrastructure and application regulated technology, products and services. The role guides the team in adopting scrum and product practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and team empowerment to deliver high-quality products and services to stakeholders.
Guide them in adopt the Scrum framework and/or transitioning from traditional development environment
Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts or issues that arise within the team. Facilitate healthy discussions and encourage a collaborative problem-solving approach.
Through targeted coaching elevate the team to a high-performing level by identifying areas of strength and improvement.
Support the development team in achieving their sprint goals by helping them remove obstacles or impediments and escalating promptly when needed.
Facilitate Scrum Events:
Organize and lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with the team(s) in setting goals and objectives and participating in scaled planning and execution events.
Promote adherence to standards when using selected agile and product tooling.
Collaborate with the Product Owner:
Work closely with product owner to build relationships with stakeholders and help across teams.
Ensure requirements and expectations are effectively communicated to and from the development team.
With the product owner, facilitate communication and maintain transparency between the team and stakeholders.
Foster Continuous Improvement:
Encourage collaboration, self-organization, and continuous improvement within the team.
Review team metrics with the client's leadership team such as cycle time, velocity and predictability to inform potential areas of improvement.
Maintain an improvement backlog and ensure prioritization of internal team improvements in sprint commitments.
Measure Value Delivery:
Assist the team in creating and analyzing product-focused measures targeting outcomes and value.
Through sprint reviews and stakeholder relationships, solicit feedback frequently to optimize team productivity and delivery of value.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor s degree with 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role applying Agile principles and practices.
Experience in leading people with the ability to earn trust while challenging the team to improve and operate outside its comfort zone.
Ability to apply creative thinking to solve problems and get things done.
Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.
Ability to promote positive team dynamics & collaboration within the team and other teams.
Risk management and conflict resolution skills.
