We are seeking a skilled Desktop Administrator to manage, maintain, and support our organization's desktop systems. This role will involve provisioning new desktop systems, supporting existing hardware and software, and ensuring all desktop environments are optimized for performance and security. - Desktop Provisioning:
- Set up and provision new desktops, laptops, and peripherals for employees, ensuring the proper configuration of hardware, software, and network settings.
- Assist with the configuration and deployment of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) if applicable.
- Manage the imaging and deployment of new systems using automation tools and scripts.
- Perform user data migration when necessary, ensuring all user settings and files are properly transferred to new devices.
- End-User Support:
- Provide remote and on-site support for desktop hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to desktop systems, including operating systems, applications, and hardware components.
- Manage IT service tickets related to desktop support, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of issues.
- System Installation and Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, macOS) and software applications.
- Monitor desktop systems for performance, security, and compliance, ensuring all systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and antivirus definitions.
- Conduct routine desktop system maintenance, including software updates and hardware diagnostics.
- Security & Compliance:
- Enforce security policies for desktop systems, including antivirus configuration, data encryption, and user authentication protocols.
- Conduct audits and ensure desktop systems meet company security standards and compliance regulations.
- User Account Management:
- Manage user accounts and permissions using Active Directory (or similar tools) for system access.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring appropriate system access is granted or revoked in a timely manner.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation for provisioning processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Prepare regular reports on desktop support activities, system performance, and issues resolved.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other IT teams (network, server, security) to ensure seamless integration of desktop systems with the broader infrastructure.
- Assist with projects related to system upgrades, new software deployments, and IT infrastructure improvements.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Windows and macOS operating systems, hardware components, and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, productivity tools).
- Strong understanding of desktop provisioning tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, SCCM, imaging tools).
- Familiar with virtual desktop technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and desktop security practices (e.g., VPN, firewall, endpoint security).
- Problem-Solving:
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Communication:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide effective user support and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to document technical processes and resolutions clearly and concisely.
- Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in desktop administration, IT support, or a related field.
- Experience with desktop provisioning and managing large-scale deployments is a plus.
- Certifications:
- CompTIA A+ or other IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) is preferred.
- Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, Jamf).
- Knowledge of Active Directory or other directory services for user management.
- Experience with IT asset management and inventory systems.
