Summary

The King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) is seeking to hire a 911 Education Coordinator. The 911 Education Coordinator will be responsible for delivering the King County E-911 Program Office’s Public Education & Training 5-Year Strategic Objectives. Responsibilities include: providing ongoing external education outreach; supporting public outreach for political initiatives; coordinating 911 public safety telecommunicator training; managing and reporting measurable data metrics; developing comprehensive training plans; and building and managing a training resource library for 911 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The role will also require close collaboration with both internal and external 911 teams.

Job Duties

  • Build relationships with community members, community programs, educational leaders, and 911 centers
  • Maintain current public education program
  • Participate in local, state, and national public educator groups
  • Participate in local and state committees and community events supporting 911 initiatives
  • Manage, purchase and distribute education and outreach materials and supplies
  • Develop and engage with 911 volunteer teams
  • Coordinate, schedule and participate in training classes, public campaigns and outreach events
  • Be creative and innovative in development of training opportunities
  • Create, develop, or provide relevant educational materials

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a training, communications or outreach specialist in 911
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a politically sensitive environment
  • Experience with community engagement via social media and/or other platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid Washington driver’s license required

Desirable

  • Fluent in a foreign language

Hybrid Work

The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work, events and telecommuting as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
