Lead Software Licensing Specialist

What you'll do:

The Lead Software Licensing Specialist supports the execution of company

policy and licensing obligations for open-source software across multiple products and platforms. This role involves analyzing large and complex software code bases to report detected third-party and open-source components and their licenses.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate should understand multiple build systems (such as Maven, Gradle, NPM), communicate technical and legal challenges, drive change, and track critical dependencies for successful compliance around the use of open-source software. The position requires facilitating and operating software composition analysis tools, as well as reviewing and tracking open-source license compliance issues before software is released externally

What you bring:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in understanding licensing terms of popular open-source licenses such as Apache 2.0, MIT, LGPL, GPL, etc. Candidates must be able to read and interpret software licenses (both open source and commercial) in consultation with the internal Legal team.
  • Experience in software development and release engineering
  • Previous experience using Software Composition Analysis tools (e.g., Black Duck, Code Insight, White Source)
  • Competency with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, JavaScript, or Java
  • Ability to understand and interpret development teams' descriptions of various systems, from embedded firmware to cloud applications
  • Demonstrated experience with creating and maintaining scripts and software in Python
  • Experience with automated build tools, version control systems, and artifact repositories such as Jenkins, Git/GitHub, Docker, Maven, Gradle, and NPM
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse/cross-functional teams and elicit work output from peers and other team members
