ECAD System Administrator
Location: Hunt Valley, MD remote role
Duration: 6 months plus
Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Duties:
- Tool Administration:
- Lead trade studies to select core ECAD tools and supplemental tools that support digital engineering initiatives.
- Test version updates prior to IT implementation to ensure stability and performance.
- Develop and maintain tool customizations within ECAD tools like Siemens Capital.
- Manage standards, symbols, templates, and PAX files for ECAD tools.
- Administer the ECAD tool infrastructure across various departments, ensuring efficient workflows and tool compatibility.
- User Support & Training:
- Provide user support for installation, setup, and ongoing use of ECAD tools.
- Manage new-user onboarding and version update training for ECAD tools.
- Work with users to develop and implement customizations that enhance tool efficiency and meet engineering needs.
- Keep users informed about new versions, features, and modules of ECAD tools, ensuring they stay updated with the latest advancements.
- Develop and conduct standardized training across all company sites.
- Hardware Parts Librarian:
- Create and maintain a standard hardware library, ensuring that common hardware components and models are available to design teams.
- Field requests for new hardware parts and manage their release through a sign-off/approval process.
- Ensure library parts are injected with required metadata for qualification.
- Interface with the community of designers and engineers to maintain consistency in hardware geometry and metadata.
- Change Management & Process Improvement:
- Assess and communicate Engineering Change Notices (ECN) impacts on assemblies to manufacturing and procurement teams.
- Collaborate with Engineering Business Systems and IT on configuration requirements, tool upgrades, and process modifications.
- Develop standardized drafting procedures and work instructions to support multiple products across all phases of the product lifecycle.
Must have skills:
- Strong background in electrical engineering, electronic design, or a related technical field.
- Ability to work effectively with technical engineering design teams across various disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineers).
- Experience in managing and administering ECAD tools
- Proficiency in configuration and change management methods, with the ability to lead tool evaluations and identify application gaps.
- Ability to develop processes around industry best practices for tool administration and user support.
- Ability to provide ECAD tool training both on-demand and in classroom environments.
- Excellent written and communication skills

- Experience with both PCB, FPGA, and Cable and Wiring Harness Design
- Experience with TeamCenter is a plus.
- Knowledge of digital engineering and its role in Industry 4.0 and Digital Thread a plus.
