POSITION DUTIES
The investigator/Auditor conducts audits of public and private correctional organizations and investigates the background of, and complaints regarding private home detention programs. Travel is required to audit state and local facilities and private home detention monitoring agencies in the state of Maryland.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

One (1) year of experience conducting audits to determine levels of compliance for state or local correctional facilities, as an auditor, team lead and/or investigator.
One (1) year of experience preparing audit reports regarding compliance with state laws, regulations and/or standards.
Proficiency using Microsoft Suite with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Google Workplace with Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Meet.

POSITION DUTIES
The investigator/Auditor conducts audits of public and private correctional organizations and investigates the background of, and complaints regarding private home detention programs. - Audits and investigates private home detention businesses to determine eligibility for licensing and compliance with state laws and regulations by conducting on site visits, background reviews and review of criminal history record checks.
- Audits adult correctional facilities and conducts monitoring visits to determine levels of compliance with standards addressing life, health, safety and constitutional issues by traveling to correctional institutions throughout the State and reviewing facility operations and documentation.
- Prepares initial audit reports and follow up monitoring visit reports. Reviews and corresponds with Private Home Monitoring Agencies to determine accuracy of initial licensing and license renewals.
- The Commission audits 50+ facilities and 5 private home detention monitoring agencies in the State of Maryland.
- The facilities are scheduled on a 3-year cycle and the private home detention monitoring agencies are scheduled on an initial 6 months to 2-year cycle.
- The audit cycles require overnight travel 1-3 times per month and audits may be 2-5 days in length.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
