Summary

Responsible for managing the purchasing for telecommunications and green energy equipment, hardware, materials and supplies. The position will also be responsible for monitoring stock, tracking shipments, coordinating returns/replacements and processing orders for the construction and electrical departments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and determine equipment accuracy, including verification against vendor’s price lists, true-ups, part numbers, item descriptions, etc. and resolve discrepancies.
  • Source RFQ (Request for Quotation) via email, phone, websites or other means of communication
  • Provide documentation to support all purchases, changes, returns, etc.
  • Manage the availability of equipment/materials and process orders to ensure accurate.
  • Track equipment orders on vendor trackers or emails to check for backorders, changed dates, schedule pick up/delivery etc.
  • Communicate equipment status to field teams.
  • Enter orders, pricing updates and product information into Sage or other software as needed.
  • Source new replacements for obsolete items
  • Resolve issues with accounting and other departments, research discrepancies, review with vendors and initiate change orders where needed.
  • Other purchasing support functions as assigned by the manager.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Purchasing.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills and able to prioritize special projects.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • High level of accuracy is needed to help minimize errors that can result in excess costs to SAI.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with MRP.
  • Experience with SAGE Timberline, and Procore software a plus.
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Office applications – specifically Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Including internal communications with field personnel, management, Accounting, and warehouse. Externally with vendors and contractors. Communication is critical to effective purchasing.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently, as well as work in a team environment
