Description:
Developers plan, develop, test, and document computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. They evaluate user request for new or modified program, such as for financial or human resource management systems, clinical research trial results, statistical study of traffic patterns, or analyzing and developing specifications for bridge design, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities. Developers also consult with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. They formulate plans outlining steps required to develop a program, using methodologies such as structured analysis and design or object-oriented development.
The projects for this developer include:
The first workstream is a PowerBI development cycle to transform existing Insight to Impact (I2I) dashboards from EPP-facing to public facing. This work involves:
(1) Consult users about the existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for I2I database and the ASEP public facing dashboards
(2) Identify best solution for public-facing dashboards built from existing dashboards hosted in a secure environment
(3) Plan, develop, and test a procedure to extract, load, and deploy data between I2I database and PowerBi dashboards
(4) Plan, develop, and test a solution to adapt and deploy PowerBI dashboards from secure environment (Insight to Impact dashboards) in public-facing location
(4) Deploy full solution to production
(4) Integrate user acceptance testing feedback from EDRS team to improve final product
(5) Develop documentation to enable ongoing maintenance through additional data loads and dashboard updates
The second workstream focuses on the creation of a new EPP map in PowerBI based on an existing map in ArcGIS. This work requires:
(1) Consult users about the existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for existing ArcGIS map of all Educator Preparation Programs in Texas
(2) Develop PowerBI map based on requirements
(3) Integrate user acceptance testing feedback from EDRS team to improve final product
(4) Develop documentation to enable ongoing maintenance
