Position summary: Coordinates safety and health programs to ensure compliance with established policies and OSHA regulations. Position responsibilities

  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
  • Experience with RCRA and Haz Waste Management.
  • Understand and focus to keep the ISO14001 (Environmental) certification.
  • Updating Air permit and change points in the facility.
  • Storm water permit and checks.
  • Waste water analysis and specification control.
  • Support with rolling out the ISO45001 (safety)
  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Oversees workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce Team Member lost time.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Confers with departmental supervisors, manufacturing representatives, and regulatory agency staff to discuss problems, to develop tests to detect hazardous leaks, and to design plans to monitor equipment and safety programs.
  • Coordinates installation, operates, and maintains equipment which monitors air, land, and/or water.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Selects and is able to give advice on personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the new technologies developed by the industry and government regulators.
  • Participates in departmental staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed and seminars.
  • Oversees disaster recovery plans.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Oversees safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university, or four (4) to six (6) years related experience and high school diploma or G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to objectively coach Team Members and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data information.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to effectively deal with others, especially Team Members, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractor personnel as required.
