How You Will Make a Difference
You will support the site lead in setting strategic direction for all Manufacturing activities at the Malta Site in line with the Group’s strategic objectives to Optimise, build & Grow in Authentication
To ensure site production objectives are achieved through the application of Operational Excellence, driving maximum efficiency and effectiveness, whilst adhering to De La Rue standards, polices and values, and that the site is adequately equipped and maintained to delivery short, medium and long term customer needs (Q/C/D/Satisfaction), industry standards and business continuity.
The site business plan will be deployed through Tactical Implementation Plans and SSQCDP work packages all underpinned through the Operational Excellence framework and Factory Management System.

Safety & Security
- Directly accountable for all production staff and all activities on site for all matters relating to operational risk.
- Foster a Customer first and right first-time culture, to meet and exceed customer quality expectations whilst achieving standard cost of quality.
- Work with project teams to accelerate improvement and technical development across the site
- Develop and sustain a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional results, balanced with a focus on positive behaviors ensuring the cost-effective use of manufacturing equipment, use of working capital in operations and manpower planning across the site
- Ensure that continuous process improvement is pursued throughout all areas of the site and that all site operations are carried out in a timely, financially sound manner, consistent with the Company’s goals.
- Sets budget, monitors financial performance and builds plans to achieve (if not exceed) for all activities to do with operations
- To lead and facilitate the adoption of lean manufacturing techniques and culture of continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence (excellence costs less)
- Recommend and gain approval of capital expenditure to sustain the business in the longer term
- Manage the operational floor and maintain to 5S standards
- Working closely with the site Leadership Team to develop long-term strategy and capacity plans
- Driving manufacturing performance improvements including delivery performance and cost competitiveness
- Responsible for ensuring that new product development and introduction is coordinated and managed effectively on site
- Ensure all direct reports have the appropriate experience, skills and behaviors to deliver the manufacturing strategy and that training and development plans are implemented across the site to ensure employees can meet future skill gap/needs. Undertaking regular talent reviews, monitoring progress and developing a succession plan for the site

- Strong leadership, influencing, communication and people management skills with the ability to work with people at all levels constructively and collaboratively
- Education to degree level or equivalent
- Experience and understanding of continuous improvement techniques; culture change programmes and managing growth
- Expertise in operational excellence with a track record of establishing best practice in lean manufacturing techniques; relentless in pursuit of excellence (makes the operational environment better every day)
- A broad understanding of complex manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to understand strategic concepts and operational details simultaneously
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing policies and procedures (HS&E, HR, Operating methods)
- Previous Management/leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience in a leadership position with a passion for identifying, developing and nurturing talent.
- Results driven with strong project / programme management skills
