Main Ares of Responsibility
By design this role is aimed to support the HSE Advisor in order to:
- Promote world class HSE practices throughout all manufacturing activities at De La Rue Malta;
- Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance in areas within job holder’s remit;
- Develop and monitor effective risk management strategies and take active participation in the implementation of these strategies;
- Keep Senior Management, Line Management and all staff abreast of relevant HSE Legislation and Codes of Practice;
- Review and develop HSE policies, procedures and guidance, in keeping with best practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
- Liaise with the relevant departments to ensure that policies, practices and procedures meet legal and system requirements;
- Guide and support Senior Management and the relevant reporting lines in maintaining compliance to the relevant Management System standards;
- Design and provide internal training for staff in relation to HSE policies, practice and procedures;
- Take active part in the HSE WorkGroups;
- Support SaS Leaders in performing their role effectively and raising their level of competence through involvement.
- To ensure full participation in the performance development review (PDR) process and maintain an up to date record of all training and development activities/programs
- To always act and behave in a way compliant with all De La Rue company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to values and behaviours, environmental health and safety, ethics and codes of conduct, as it is through living our values that we strengthen the culture of our business and demonstrate our understanding of our Code of Business Principles. Knowledge, Skill and Experience
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate and/or NEBOSH OHS Certificate required,
- 3 years’ experience in H&S/HSE Management in a HSE related position desirable;
- Diploma in Health & Safety, or Diploma in a H&S discipline desirable.
- Sound knowledge of HSE legislation & industry practices;
- Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
- Ability to define problem areas, collect, interpret, and evaluate complex technical data and draw valid conclusions;
- Ability to effectively present information to management, associates and regulatory agencies;
- Demonstrated ability to influence others via strong relationships and analytical skills;
- Effective collaboration and leadership skills and the ability to influence individuals to implement policies, procedures and guidelines without direct authority;
- Proficiency in using MS Office applications.
- Requires a good understanding of HSE legislation and relevant management system processes.
- Previous experience in manufacturing/process industry is ideal.
- Needs to exhibit good leadership and influential skills on a wider scale through consistent support, managing time frames and leading by example
- Sound knowledge of BAT’s and risk aversion solutions
