Position Description
The Lead Program Facilitator & Resource Connector will play a dual role in leading engaging, student-driven music classes and ensuring that young people have access to vital resources through Beyond the Bars’ network of partners. This position is integral in supporting students both in their musical development and in connecting them to additional opportunities that align with their goals and well-being. The facilitator will collaborate with students to help set and work toward personal and musical aspirations while also working with partners to make appropriate referrals and resource connections. The facilitator will co-work with a small resource connection team multiple times throughout the week to best connect youth with the resources of our partners and network.

Position Description

This position is integral in supporting students both in their musical development and in connecting them to additional opportunities that align with their goals and well-being. The facilitator will collaborate with students to help set and work toward personal and musical aspirations while also working with partners to make appropriate referrals and resource connections. The facilitator will co-work with a small resource connection team multiple times throughout the week to best connect youth with the resources of our partners and network.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate engaging, student-centered music instruction in alignment with Beyond the Bars’ curriculum and mission.
- Provide mentorship and individualized support to students, helping them set and progress toward personal, musical, and professional goals.
- Identify students' needs and connect them to relevant community resources, including educational support, job opportunities, mental health services, and more.
- Work collaboratively with Beyond the Bars’ partner organizations to facilitate student referrals and ensure smooth access to available resources.
- Maintain consistent communication with students, families, and partners to ensure that youth are receiving comprehensive support.
- Participate in team meetings, contributing insights on student progress, program improvements, and resource connections.
- Record and report key program data, including student progress, referral outcomes, and lesson engagement.
- Support organizational objectives by working closely with Beyond the Bars staff to enhance program impact and resource accessibility.
- Co-work with Resource Connection Team on Zoom/in person meetings to best support youth with the referrals to partners
- Passion for working with young people and a commitment to student-driven, anti-racist, and community-based education.
- Experience facilitating engaging classes, workshops, or mentoring programs with youth, particularly in music education.
- Strong ability to build relationships with students and support them holistically in their development.
- Familiarity with social service systems, community organizations, and resource navigation for youth.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to track student progress and coordinate with partners effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with youth, families, and partner organizations in a warm and professional manner.
- Knowledge of contemporary music instruments, recording equipment, and production software is a plus.

- PA State Background Check
- FBI Waiver or FBI Clearance
- Mandatory Reporter Training
