Responsibilities Of The Legal Assistant
- Assist attorneys in preparing and filing legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and motions.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support case preparation.
- Maintain and organize client files, ensuring that all documents are up-to-date and accessible.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and court hearings.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, phone calls, and mail.
- Prepare and proofread legal documents and correspondence to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Assist with the preparation of trial materials and exhibits.
- Manage and update legal databases and tracking systems.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the legal team.
- 2 - 3 years of law firm experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Admin, or Legal Studies Intern.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal research tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work products.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or in a similar role is preferred.
- eFiling system with NJ Courts experience.
- Pacer and WestLaw experience would be great.
- Associate's degree or higher in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field is preferred.
