Connexus Energy is looking for an experienced power supply professional with strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic skills. Reporting to the CEO and working with the full senior management team, develops and implements goals, objectives and strategies of the organization. Accountable for managing power supply strategy and costs, leading strategic level business development, and working collaboratively with executive leadership to develop and implement the goals, plans, objectives and strategies of the cooperative.
Anticipated hiring pay is between $224,600.00 to $294,800.00. The final compensation is based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience and skill level. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 20% based on company performance.
Key Areas Of Responsibility
Strategy and Corporate Leadership - Implements strategies in alignment with Connexus Energy’s vision, mission and values. Champions strategies with employees through regular communication and by example. Leads organizational change efforts and cooperative’s values.
Power Supply & Transmission – Primary leader and expert in all aspects of providing members with reliable cost competitive power supply and transmission services compliant with MISO market requirements for load serving entities (LSE), federal and state mandates. This includes developing and sustaining our power supply strategy, overseeing power supply costs and hedging, manage zonal MISO transmission services, and lead resource planning.
Business Development, Data Analytics & Rates – Provides leadership for business development, including both strategic initiatives and operational capabilities such as product development, data analytics, rates and pricing and conservation improvement.
Metering and Behind-the-Meter (BTM) Services – Provides oversight to the Metering Group in their primary focus on the operation and maintenance of our AMI system, and cross divisional support to Member Billing Operations (MBO). In addition, encourages and evolves the metering group to pursue opportunities for behindthemeter member services, like EV charging assessment, Battery Storage integration, Demand Management installs, and Energy Assessments.
Governmental Affairs – Support CEO and Board policy initiatives, acting as the lead staff support contact to Minnesota Rural Electric Association, Legislators, and other Distribution Cooperatives to articulate and implement the cooperative’s legislative and executive branch governmental relations efforts.

Required Education And Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical or mechanical, or related field)
- Ten or more years’ experience in the energy utility sector. Target experience areas may include one to several of the following; business development, regulatory policy analysis, economic development, power generation (including renewables and distributed resources), and energy services.
- Strong understanding of the electrical value chain elements; generation, transmission, distribution, ISO
- Use of financial proforma, forecasting, related business analysis tools
- Application of enterprise risk assessment, scenarios, and statistical analysis
- Business negotiation, key business and contractual term development
- Effective and persuasive public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to initiate and lead major projects involving internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate people
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Master’s degree
