The details of the position are as mentioned below:
Role : Databricks Engineer
Location : Hybrid 3 days on-site - Location preference in order
1st Branchville, NJ 2nd Charlotte, NC ( 1 team lead there) 3rd and least wanted option - Hartford, CT
Duration: 6-month Contract to Hire (they are open to sponsor!)
Top tech skills to focus on:
- Overall 10+ years of experience
- Azure Databricks this is the primary focus of this role so looking for as much experience as possible
- PySpark / Python, SQL
- Netezza
- Informatica PowerCenter / ETL
- Resumes need to be clear and concise, shorter summaries 3-4 pages max
The Team:
- Supports data teams and provides the data and report building
- Tech Stack - informatica / power center, and all know basic SQL server
- Now looking for folks skilled in DataBricks
- Azure data engineer tools - github and data lake skills
- Moving from informatica power center to data bricks and team needs more of that
Skills:
- Expert in Data Bricks
- SQL and Azure
- Interact with the business partners so Comm skills are important
- Good understanding how data used in a good organization
- Informatica a plus
- Okay if no insurance, 2nd banking/financial, 3rd is any domain
- Ability to show the business the benefits of using data bricks over informatica.
- The job description says 5-6 years experience, however, prefer 9-10 yrs to be able to work on multiple projects.
- An Informatica background that went into data bricks is ideal
- Python preferred, Scala a plus.
- Informatica a plus
Day to Day
- Specialist role - 2 aspects ( independently work ) and (work with teams get completed with offshore )
- On day One, will be expected to know technology in data bricks, and be able fix any technical problem. Should have basic terminology in data engineering work - should be on same page
- After 30 days - spending more time in learning how using technology in the company, who the different stakeholders are, and why working with them, what problems trying to solve
- 60 days start fixing bugs
- 90 days do work by themselves - Tasks - building data set for reporting, expect develop coding in data bricks layer so can build out themselves - ie where the file is, layout, complete that independently.
- On project informatica, and one project data bricks. This person will be 70-80% working on data bricks.
- Pulling a lot of different sources Netezza and policy systems, and external data points
