Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MIS Reporting Developer/Consultant to support the California Community Colleges in the development, enhancement, and modification of Management Information System (MIS) reports. This role requires an in-depth understanding of state and federal reporting requirements, expertise in student information systems (SIS) such as PeopleSoft or Banner, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure
accurate and timely submissions.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MIS Reporting Developer/Consultant to support the California Community Colleges in the development, enhancement, and modification of Management Information System (MIS) reports. This role requires an in-depth understanding of state and federal reporting requirements, expertise in student information systems (SIS) such as PeopleSoft or Banner, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure
accurate and timely submissions.
Duties
- Analyze and interpret California Community Colleges MIS reporting
- requirements, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Develop, modify, and maintain MIS reports and data extracts to meet compliance
- standards.
- Collaborate with institutional research, IT, and functional teams to understand
- business rules, data structures, and reporting needs.
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various systems to generate
- accurate and actionable reports.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) checks and troubleshoot issues related to data
- accuracy, completeness, and formatting.
- Provide documentation for report specifications, technical designs, and data
- mapping processes.
- Train and support institutional staff in understanding and utilizing MIS reporting
- tools.
- Stay updated on California MIS reporting standards and ensure reports align with
- the latest requirements.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in MIS reporting, preferably within higher education or California Community Colleges.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
- Strong knowledge of SIS platforms such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions,
- Ellucian Banner, or similar systems.
- Experience with ETL tools and data integration platforms.
- Familiarity with California Community Colleges MIS data elements and reporting
- processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
