Network Security Engineer

Hybrid Role in Alpharetta, GA

Duration: 6+ Months to Hire

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to join our network team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in designing, implementing, and managing advanced network security solutions. A deep understanding of Cisco Firepower/FMC, Cisco Tetration, AlgoSec, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Design and Implementation:
- Architect, configure, and deploy Cisco Firepower/FMC solutions for advanced threat detection, firewall management, and intrusion prevention.
- Implement and manage Cisco Tetration for comprehensive workload protection, network visibility, and micro-segmentation.
- Utilize AlgoSec to automate network security policy management, optimize firewall rules, and ensure continuous compliance.

- Deploy and maintain Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control (NAC) and secure authentication.

2. Policy Management:
- Utilize company incident management system to respond to listing requests and make approved policy and rule adjustments within Cisco FMC
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, providing detailed analysis and recommendations for remediation.

3. Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of security solutions within the broader IT infrastructure.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior network security engineers and assist in the development of their technical skills.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Cisco Firepower/FMC, Tetration, AlgoSec, and ISE, offering support and troubleshooting assistance as needed.

4. **Continuous Improvement:**
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in network security technologies, threats, and industry trends.
- Identify opportunities for improving existing security solutions and processes, driving innovation within the security team.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new security tools and technologies.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, with a focus on Cisco security technologies.
- Extensive experience with Cisco Firepower/FMC, Cisco Tetration, AlgoSec, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network access control (NAC).
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, CCIE Security, CISSP, or similar are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with common network routing protocols like OSPF,BGP, and EIGRP
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

**Preferred Skills:**
- Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and securing hybrid environments.
- Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PHP, PowerShell) for security operations.

MUST HAVES:

  • Ideally 5 -7 years or more supporting enterprise networking environments
  • Strong experience with Cisco network equipment
  • Strong experience with layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing concepts
  • Strong experience with MPLS and WAN concepts and technology
  • Experience with Cisco DMVPN a plus
  • Experience with Cisco Firepower a plus
  • Experience with zero-trust security posture environments a plus
