Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist for a 9-month onsite contract in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for providing hands-on technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with IT projects, including laptop, mobile device, and printer refreshes. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and resolution for software and hardware issues, including Windows and Mac operating systems and various software applications.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade software and hardware, including workstations, printers, IP phones, and peripherals.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and endpoint checks to ensure system reliability.
  • Utilize remote support tools to diagnose and resolve user issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair conference room equipment, including phones, projectors, sound systems, cables, and wall plates.
  • Ensure proper follow-up on support requests and resolutions.
  • Escalate unresolved technical issues to the appropriate IT teams.

Project Support

  • Assist in laptop refresh, mobile device refresh, and printer refresh initiatives.
  • Ensure smooth deployment of new IT equipment and maintain updated system configurations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical expertise in troubleshooting and supporting Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and email client configuration (Outlook, mobile devices).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including switches, firewalls, VPN clients, and wireless networking.
  • Basic experience with Windows Server Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Knowledge of VoIP systems and related troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to professionally handle challenging situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and resolve IT issues efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a corporate IT support environment.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or ITIL are a plus.
