Job Description

The developer will be responsible for planning, developing, testing, and documenting computer programs while applying programming techniques and system knowledge. The role includes evaluating user requests for new or modified programs in various domains such as financial management, human resources, clinical research, statistical studies, and infrastructure analysis. The developer will assess feasibility, cost, compatibility with existing systems, and computer capabilities to determine the best approach for implementation.

Collaboration with users is essential to identify current operating procedures, clarify program objectives, and formulate structured plans to develop solutions using methodologies such as structured analysis, design, or object-oriented development.

Project Responsibilities

The First Project Involves The Transformation Of Existing Power BI Insight To Impact (I2I) Dashboards From An Internal-facing Environment To a Public-facing Environment. Tasks Include

  • Consulting users about existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for the I2I database and the ASEP public-facing dashboards
  • Identifying the best solution for converting secure dashboards to a publicly accessible format
  • Planning, developing, and testing procedures to extract, load, and deploy data between the I2I database and Power BI dashboards
  • Developing and testing a solution to adapt and deploy Power BI dashboards from a secure environment to a public-facing location
  • Deploying the full solution to production
  • Integrating user acceptance testing feedback from the EDRS team to improve the final product
  • Developing documentation to support ongoing maintenance, including additional data loads and dashboard updates

The second project focuses on the creation of a new Educator Preparation Program (EPP) map in Power BI based on an existing ArcGIS map. Tasks include:

  • Consulting users about existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for the current ArcGIS map of all Educator Preparation Programs in Texas
  • Developing a Power BI map based on user requirements
  • Integrating user acceptance testing feedback from the EDRS team to improve the final product
  • Developing documentation to enable ongoing maintenance

Required Skills And Experience

  • 8 years of experience with Power BI or other dashboard applications
  • 8 years of experience with SAS
  • 4 years of experience with data gateways
  • 4 years of experience with SQL
  • 4 years of experience in creating and maintaining documentation
  • 2 years of experience with SmartSheets
  • 2 years of experience with ArcGIS

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • 4 years of experience using relational databases
  • 2 years of experience working with education data
  • 2 years of experience with the Ed-Fi Data Standard
