As a Windows System Administrator you will play an integral role on the NIWC Atlantic Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) Infrastructure and Platform Sustainment (CIPS) team supporting local and remote user desktop machines and servers. You will focus on systems and application stability, security, performance, and capacity management, as well as documentation.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the sustainment of systems within enterprise-class environment
  • Provide support for emergent Windows operating system issues
  • System installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures.
  • Common Windows roles, features, and services, such as file shares, replication, print services, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Internet Information Services (IIS) web services.
  • Automated operating system deployment with systems like Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Acronis, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), etc.
  • Lifecycle management solutions that track software inventory, deploy security patches, and administer software distribution, such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM), Acronis, ManageEngine, SolarWinds Patch Manager, Tanium, etc.
  • Virtualization and hypervisor management including creation of virtual machines and configuration of their compute, storage, and network settings, with VMware vSphere 6.x or later, or Hyper-V.
  • Diagnosing performance and availability issues with infrastructure monitoring tools such as System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Nagios, SolarWinds Server Monitor tools, etc.
  • Analyzing log and event data in real time with security information and event management (SIEM), or log aggregation tools such as Splunk, Elastic Search, McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, etc.
  • Scripting with Windows command line, PowerShell, virtual basic, etc.
  • Accessing servers and desktop users with remote support tools such as Windows Remote Desktop Connection service, SolarWinds Dameware, BeyondTrust/Bomgar, etc.
  • Configuration, troubleshooting, and restoration of Windows network connectivity across virtualized network connections, local area connections, wide-area connections, firewalls, and virtual private networks, with understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation and boundaries.

  • Requirements

    US Citizen with active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems:
  • Competent and adaptable in all areas of Windows systems administration: Active Directory forests, domains, group policy management, OU/security group/user/computer object administration, Sites and Services, and domain name services (DNS).

  • Preferred

    Dell laptops, notebooks, and mobile workstations
  • Server hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • SharePoint administration
  • DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance
  • Experience working in classified spaces
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
  • Microsoft SQL Server database
  • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and related tools
  • Familiarity with Apache Tomcat
  • Re-location to the primary work location is required
  • Up to 10% Travel may be required
